Czech National Infrastructure for Biological data (ELIXIR CZ)
The aim of the project is to ensure that the data generated by other infrastructures meets the FAIR principles which means that the data is findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. To this end, ELIXIR CZ provides hardware and software resources and specific architectures according to the nature of the processed data. This unique technical solution is primarily fulfilled by e-infrastructures responsible for advanced IT solutions, building data storage, access to data and computing capacities.

Horizon Europe — Research Infrastructures

Total project budget: € 4,000,000 EUR
Budget for IOCB Prague: € 130 937 EUR
Project partners: 38 institutes in 25 countries across Europe
IOCB Prague role: Co-leader of WP4

ELIXIR-STEERS ensures that ELIXIR continues to operate as a world-class Research Infrastructure and enables wider participation in computational life science research. It focuses on the provision of software and workflows to life scientists, maximising productivity in research, and minimising consequent energy usage. It will create a toolkit for robust, reproducible, and green software and workflows; enable cross-border data analysis across the European Research Area; and strengthen ELIXIR Nodes through training, capacity building, and international partnerships.

ELIXIR CZ: Capacity extension
Brief description: The project aims to renew and further develop the ELIXIR CZ infrastructure to address current life sciences challenges in strategic thematic areas through five key activities that will have a positive impact on infrastructure users and the wider research community.

European Union´s Framework Program for Research and Innovation
Horizon 2020
  • ID: 871075
    Time frame: 1.2.2020 – 31.7.2023
    Budget:  162 522 EUR

ELIXIR-CONVERGE
This international project focuses on the standardization of life science data management across Europe. To achieve this complex goal, a unique data management toolkit dedicated to life scientists will be developed within the project. The toolkit will help to ensure that more research data is in the public domain, which will give scientists access to more data. This will allow them to discover new insights into the challenges facing society, such as food security and health in old age, and help to stimulate innovation in biomedicine and biotechnology.

ELIXIR CZ: Capacity Building
This project strengthened the infrastructure with several thousand computing cores, resulting in up to two petabytes of storage capacity.  This allowed for the direct extension of several excellent databases and tools developed by ELIXIR CZ, such as RepeatExplorer, Dolbico, DNATCO, MotiveValidator, ValidatorDB or SecStructureAnnotator. These services became an integral part of the international ELIXIR ecosystem, and are fully available to all life science researchers.

ELIXIR Staff/Knowledge Exchange

The aim of the ELIXIR Staff Exchange programme are to strengthen the links between ELIXIR Nodes, facilitate capacity building in ELIXIR Nodes and support the exchange of best practices in bioinformatics service provision.

ELIXIR CZ Internal Projects

ELIXIR CZ internal projects are short, 1-year long projects that enhance the ELIXIR CZ infrastructure. The projects are funded from the ELIXIR CZ budget and only ELIXIR CZ consortium partners can apply for it. Topics of interest are set by ELIXIR CZ Board.
