TORONTO, CANADA & HINXTON, UNITED KINGDOM — The Beacon Project of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) and ELIXIR, the European infrastructure for life-science data, announced today an expansion of their partnership to develop the Beacon project that will improve the discoverability of European genomic data.
On July 21th, Prague will host the BioVis 2017 event, focusing on biological data visualization. The aim of the meeting is to educate, inspire, and engage visualization researchers in this field and also meet with experts in biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
ELIXIR adopts overarching policy for ethical and legal aspects of accessing and re-using sensitive life-science data.

EMBL-EBI will train researchers from Masaryk University (MU, part of ELIXIR Czech Republic) in the annotation of data in the Protein Databank in Europe (PDBe). The goal is to build local capacity for annotation of PDBe data in the Czech Republic and lay the groundwork for a long-term partnership in data annotation between EMBL-EBI and Masaryk University (MU).

At the beginning of March representatives of eleven Czech universities and research institutes met in Prague to formally sign a consortium agreement setting up the Czech bioinformatics infrastructure ELIXIR CZ.
