Last week, the three-day ELIXIR CZ conference focused on Data Management, attracting nearly 100 experts. The program was divided into four thematic blocks, each offering a variety of presentations and discussions covering key aspects of scientific data management.
The first block focused on the European context of data management, where standards and practices used across European infrastructures were presented. The emphasis was on unifying approaches and fostering cooperation between countries to create an efficient and interoperable data management system.
The second block was dedicated to tools and workflows for scientific data management. Presentations focused on the practical use of tools for data management planning and software for organizing and sharing data among different scientific teams. Automation possibilities and ways to improve the efficiency of these processes were also discussed.
In the third block, participants focused on best practices within the data expert community. They discussed examples of good practice and shared experiences of implementing data management at various institutions. Special attention was given to the specific needs of different scientific disciplines in managing data.
The final block addressed topics related to open science and national and international initiatives aimed at building open data infrastructures. Participants had the opportunity to learn about current projects and challenges in the field of scientific data management and sharing.
Additionally, a poster session was held, where around 20 posters were presented, showcasing innovative approaches and research in data management. The presentations from the conference are available on the event’s website.
The conference provided a rich platform for exchanging experiences and sparked discussions about the future direction of data management in scientific research.
